HITC Sport understands Bristol City are set to win the race for highly-rated Torquay starlet Levi Ives.
HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Bristol City are poised to sign highly-rated Torquay starlet Levi Ives.
The 17-year-old has been attracting the interest of a number of Premier League and Championship clubs after catching the eye for club and country in the last 18 months.
Ives has represented Northern Ireland at Under-17 and Under-19 level and he was a stand-out performer for Northern Ireland as they won last summer’s prestigious Milk Cup tournament.
The all-action left-back made 20 appearances for Torquay last season and scouts from a host of top clubs were regular visitors to Plainmoor to watch the teenager in action.
Bristol City have been keeping tabs on the Belfast-born full-back and they are set to steal a march on their rivals by luring Ives to Ashton Gate.
Ives’ scholarship at Torquay ended earlier this summer and he turned down the offer of a pro deal on offer at the club.
Despite being a free agent under Elite Premier Performance Plan rules, Torquay will be entitled to compensation for Ives’s services.
