Report: Watford linked with summer move for Lex Immers

Watford are reportedly keen on signing the Dutch playmaker this summer.

Watford have already started strengthening this summer ahead of their return to the Premier League, and they have now been linked to another player by the Daily Mail.

According to their report, the Hornets are planning a summer move for Feyenoord playmaker Lex Immers, having already signed two defensive midfielders in Etienne Capoue and Valon Behrami.

Head coach Quique Sanchez Flores is looking to add some more attacking strength to his team, and with doubts still surrounding Almen Abdi’s injury record, signing a number 10 to provide competition and cover has become a priority.

Immers has been targeted as the potential arrival for this role, and the Hornets could be formalising their interest in him in the coming weeks.

Who is Lex Immers?

Immers, 29, is an attacking midfielder who plays for Eredivisie side Feyenoord. He moved to De Kuip in 2012, after starting his career with ADO Den Haag - progressing through their youth academy to make 160 first-team appearances.

He has played 118 times for Feyenoord, including appearances in both the Europa and Champions League, and has built a reputation as a reliable attacking playmaker in his homeland.

Throughout his career, he has scored 69 goals and registered 37 assists in 278 games - with the majority coming in the top flight of Dutch football. He would provide added competition to the Hornets ranks, and ensure that creativity still exists in the team when main playmaker Abdi is out of action.
