Report: Sheffield Wednesday interested in Gary Hooper

Former Celtic forward Gary Hooper has been linked with a move from Norwich City to Sheffield Wednesday.

Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing Gary Hooper from Norwich City this summer, according to The Sun.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri wants to recruit the 27-year-old forward on a season-long loan deal.

Norwich will reportedly ask for £6 million as transfer fee to sell the former Celtic star on a permanent basis, with The Sun claiming that several Championship sides are also keen on a loan deal.

Good player

Hooper was a success at Celtic during his three years at Celtic Park, winning the Scottish league title twice and the Scottish Cup as many times.

The Englishman, who moved to the Canaries in 2013, remains an important player for Norwich, having helped them get promoted to the Premier League at the end of last season.

During the 2013-14 campaign, Hooper scored six goals and created 36 chances in 32 appearances in the Premier League for the Canaries.

The former Scunthorpe United forward had a pass accuracy of 85% and a shot accuracy of 62%, and won six headers, four dribbles and five dribbles.

Last season in the Championship, Hooper scored 12 goals and created 27 chances in 32 matches.

The former Southend United man had a pass accuracy of 84% and a shot accuracy of 76%, and won eight headers, seven dribbles and three tackles.
