Gino Pozzo says Davide Santon won’t join Watford

Former Newcastle United defender Davide Santon does not want to move to Watford, says Gino Pozzo.

Watford owner Gino Pozzo has told FCInterNews that there is no chance of signing Davide Santon from Inter Milan this summer.

“I can say that the deal is now off the table and negotiations will not continue,” Pozzo told FCInterNews.

“I see no particular enthusiasm in the boy, despite all the time that we gave him to reflect and evaluate the deal.”

Good decision from Davide Santon?

Former Newcastle United full-back Santon recently stated on his official Facebook page that he wants to remain at Inter, and it seems that he is maintaining his stance.

It makes sense for the 24-year-old to snub the interest of Watford, as he is at a bigger club with bigger ambitions at the moment.

Watford will be fighting for survival in the Premier League next season, while Inter will be aiming to finish in the top three of Serie A.

True, Santon is not guaranteed a place in the Nerazzurri starting line-up, but he could prove himself to coach Roberto Mancini as the season progresses.

Moreover, the Italy international did not have a particularly great time in the Premier League when he was at Newcastle.
