The Brazilian is the Reds' big signing of the summer so far and their former winger expects the deal to be a success.
The Brazilian completed a big-money move from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim last month, in the club’s biggest move so far in this summer transfer window.
Former Reds winger Babel was a teammate of Firmino’s for 18 months when he left Liverpool for the German side in 2011 so has seen the player on a first-hand basis, and believes the supporters are going to like what they see.
"I'm very happy for him,” he told liverpoolfc.com.
“He's very talented and now it is down to him. He is the kind of player that can give a lot of joy to Liverpool fans because he's a very skillful player."
Great going forward with a defensive awareness
Given the status of former club Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, it is fair to say that the majority of Liverpool fans are unlikely to have seen too much of what their new star man has got to offer.
Those who have watched Brazil in recent times may have caught a glimpse of his ability, with him having impressed for his country in the Copa America. Most Reds fans have relied on YouTube for research then, and will have been impressed by what they have found.
Babel, though, has got them covered, highlighting just what the Brazilian will bring to Brendan Rodgers’ side.
"He is a tricky player. He can dribble, shoot, he has a great shot, he can play a lot of through balls and his assists are very good,” he added.
"He is actually also great at heading. He's the kind of player that likes the ball at his feet, but something he learned in Germany was how to work without the ball and defend. I know how important that is in England.”
