Middlesbrough launch cash-plus-player raid for Ipswich striker Daryl Murphy

HITC Sport understands that Boro are prepared to include James Husband in any deal for the Republic of Ireland international.

Middlesbrough have launched a bid for Ipswich Town’s Daryl Murphy and are hoping to include James Husband in any deal for the prolific striker, HITC Sport understands from sources close to a potential agreement.

The Championship's top-scorer from 2014/15, with 27 goals, is being chased by a number of clubs, with Fulham having tried to land him earlier in the summer – as reported by HITC Sport.

Now, Ipswich sources have confirmed to HITC Sport that Boro have come in with a deal worth over £4million.

And Boro have also offered them full-back Husband, who was already on Ipswich's radar as a possible replacement for Tyrone Mings - who has joined Premier League new boys Bournemouth.

Boro lost both Patrick Bamford and Jellle Vossen at the end of the season leaving just Kike up top, meaning Aitor Karanka needed a major reshuffle in the striker department.

HITC sport understands that they still hold an interest in Vossen, as well as Blackburn Rovers’ Jordan Rhodes and Dundee United's Nadir Ciftci.
