Alli sends message to ex-Forest trialist Alexander McQueen who clinches Carlisle move after Tottenham release

Former Tottenham defender Alexander McQueen has signed with Carlisle, two months after a trial with Nottingham Forest.

Carlisle United have announced the signing of Alexander McQueen on their official website.

McQueen was just released by Tottenham Hotspur, and has signed a one year deal with the League Two side.

HITC reported how McQueen spent a short trial period with Nottingham Forest in April, named on the club's official website as a starter in an under-21 fixture along with fellow Spurs prospect Aaron McEneff.

McQueen took to Twitter to state he was delighted to find a club so quickly and felt like Carlisle was the right move for him.

He was congratulated by new Spurs signing Dele Alli, who signed from MK Dons in January, along with Tottenham youngster Ryan Fredericks.

McQueen may not have landed at a Championship club like Forest but at Carlisle he arguably has a better chance to play regular football and help his career development at a crucial stage.

The 20-year-old defender was a regular for Tottenham's under-21s, but needs to play 'Men's Football', as Carlisle head of recruitment Lee Dykes described it.

Carlisle confirmed 24 hours earlier they have another former Tottenham player on trial, midfielder Laste Dombaxe, who was released 12 months earlier.
