HITC Sport understands that Arsenal are closely monitoring the situation of Al Ahly starlet Ramadan Sobhy, but face competition from Serie A outfit Roma.
HITC Sport understands from sources close to the player that Arsenal have been alerted to the fact that Al Ahly are now ready to listen to offers for starlet Ramadan Sobhy – considered by many to be the best young player in Africa.
The 17-year-old forward was targeted by Arsenal last year when they made an offer to take him on trial, as reported by Egyptian publication King Fut, but at that time Al Ahly refused to entertain the idea of him leaving.
Now a number of clubs are pushing hard for the player, and Al Ahly are ready to sell the dynamic youngster, who can play anywhere across the forward line.
Italian giants Roma were forced out of the blocks and they want to take him on a long-term deal and made official contact with Al Ahly last week.
Arsenal remain keen, but there is also interest from other Premier League clubs, as well as teams from Spain, France and Germany.
He is represented by English agency HSH Sports and their director Craig Honeyman confirmed to HITC Sport: “We are aware of the interest from Roma and we have been in contact with them.
“There is also interest from Spain, Germany, France and the Premier League.
“Sobhy is a special talent and at just 18 he has already established himself as a first team regular with the biggest club team in Africa whilst he is incredibly well thought of within the national team set up.”
