The former Chelsea striker has moved to China instead of joining the Baggies.

Let’s get the bad pun out of the way early: West Brom’s striker pursuit so far has just been Demba Banter.

Indeed, former Chelsea striker Demba Ba has been confirmed as a Shanghai Shenhua signing – despite being wanted by the Premier League’s Baggies.

The Daily Mail, among others, linked West Brom with a £7 million move for the forward as recently as this weekend. The 30-year-old, however, has ended up choosing China.

Naturally, the accusation leveled at the ex-Chelsea man by many West Brom supporters on Twitter has been one of wanting money over football. Some have been left disappointed by the news of his Shanghai Shenhua move. Others claim to have been expecting it.

One thing’s for sure, though, all isn’t rosy in the transfer market for Tony Pulis. At the back end of last season, the Baggies boss made it clear just how important it was to strengthen his squad. So far, he’s had little luck in his search for a new forward.

Here, then, is how West Brom fans reacted to news of missing out on Ba on Twitter…
