Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez isn’t special - Juan Vargas

The Peru centre-half is not daunted by the prospect of facing the Chilean forward in the Copa America semi-finals.

Juan Manual Vargas has stated that he is not daunted by the prospect of facing Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez, as reported by Goal.

The Peruvian centre-half will be part of the side that faces Chile in the Copa America semi-finals, with the Gunners forward one of the main threats for the competition hosts.

Despite the fact that Sanchez had a scintillating debut campaign in English football and has looked sharp so far in the Copa America, Vargas will not be worried by having to mark him.

The Fiorentina defender has stated that both Sanchez and compatriot Eduardo Vargas are not a source of concern for him.

"Against them we have to play our own game. I've already played against Alexis and Vargas and they are not anything special," Vargas is quoted as saying by Goal.

"We still have three days to go, so let's think about ourselves and correct our mistakes.”

Chile have never won the Copa America but stand an excellent chance of doing so this time round as they enter the final reaches of the competition.

Sanchez is expected to return late for Arsenal pre-season training as a result of his involvement in the tournament.

The former Barceona man was arguably the Gunners’ best player last season and will be crucial in the North London club’s chances of securing silverware in 2015-16.
