Report: Steven N’Zonzi refuses to sign new Stoke deal

The 25-year old is about to enter the final year of his contract and is reported to be seeking a new challenge elsewhere.

Steven N’Zonzi has demonstrated steady growth during his career in English football - since his arrival at Blackburn Rovers six years ago.

The rangy, powerful central midfielder has improved year on year and gradually asserted himself as one of the Premier League’s most consistent midfield performers. His development was most apparent last season and it was rewarded in his recognition as Stoke City’s player of the year.

N'Zonzi's relationship with The Potters hasn’t always been plain sailing, however, with the midfielder handing in transfer requests twice in the last two years, per the Telegraph, making his desire for a change of environment quite clear.

Potters fans will be disappointed, though, to hear of the latest developments, N’Zonzi reportedly declaring that he will not be signing a new deal.

According to The Telegraph, N’Zonzi’s representative, and father, Fidele N’Zonzi met the club last week and confirmed that his son is seeking a move elsewhere, to a ‘bigger’ club.

The report also mentions that Stoke will not entertain offers under £6 million, a fee which seems high given the Frenchman’s contract situation.

Rumours of Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur being interested have surfaced over the last few days, in the Daily Express, so N’Zonzi may yet get that big move he craves.
