Midfielder Gutierrez has been released by Newcastle and will leave the Premier League club when his current contract runs out at the end of next month.
The Argentine has been on the books of the Magpies since 2008 and is hugely popular among the fans.
The 31-year-old has struggled for playing time in recent years, though, largely due to his battle with testicular cancer.
Following the announcement of his release by Newcastle, Gutierrez lashed out at Ashley on Twitter, claiming that he did not get the support he should have from the club’s owner.
Two things I learn from my illness how you can support a player (newcastle fans) and how you leAve a player alone (newcastle owner)— jonas gutierrez (@elgalgojonas) May 29, 2015
Gutierrez scored 12 goals in 205 appearances for Newcastle and is one of the most popular players.
The former Real Mallorca star played an important role in the Magpies’ battle against relegation from the Premier League in the recently concluded 2014-15 season.
The Argentine scored in the 85th minute of their final league game of the campaign against West Ham United at St. James' Park to help Newcastle to a 2-0 win.
