Report: West Ham join race to sign Cagliari teenager Godfred Donsah

West Ham have reportedly joined the race to sign Cagliari midfielder Godfred Donsah.

According to Calcio Mercato, West Ham United are interested in signing Cagliari midfielder Godfred Donsah during this summer's transfer window.

The Hammers could see a new manager arrive this summer with Sam Allardyce's contract set to expire, whilst reinforcements will be needed on the pitch.

With Alex Song set to return to Barcelona at the end of his loan deal this summer, West Ham will need to replace the former Arsenal star, and may well want to bring in a similarly athletic midfielder.

It's therefore little surprise to see that Calcio Mercato are crediting the Hammers with an interest in signing Cagliari's highly-rated midfielder Donsah, who could well be available this summer.

The former Palermo and Verona youngster suffered relegation with Cagliari this weekend, and is unlikely to be up for a campaign in Serie B given the clubs linked with him.

The London Evening Standard recently reported that Arsenal and Tottenham are monitoring Donsah, whilst Calcio Mercato suggest that PSV Eindhoven are also interested.

The 18-year-old Ghanaian has enjoyed an impressive season in Italy, demonstrating his athleticism in midfielder, and the relegation is bound to make the vultures circle this summer - and you can now seemingly add West Ham to his list of potential suitors, despite the confusion over who will be managing the club next season.
