Arsenal have agreed to sign Yassin Fortune from RC Lens this summer, despite interest from Manchester United.

According to France Football, the Gunners have beaten off interest from Manchester United to sign Fortune from RC Lens this summer.

The 16-year-old striker currently turns out for the Under-19 side for Lens, and is a French youth international at Under-16 level, with whom he has netted four goals in seven games.

The report states that Fortune has agreed a three-year deal with the Gunners, and after moving to North London will continue his development in Arsenal’s academy system and youth teams.

Being only 16, little is known of the young striker, and he has yet to make his senior debut for Lens.

He was previously linked to Manchester United this season, as per the Daily Mail, who have been scouting him during international duty, and the France Football report claims that Arsenal beat off an offer from the Red Devils to agree a deal with Fortune.

He is set to arrive at the Emirates in the summer, and he will be joining a club renowned for their youth development and desire to incorporate young players in the first-team.

However, it is still not expected that he will feature for the first-team for a number of years, and the 16-year-old will likely spend next season around Under-18 level, with potential forays into Under-21 football should he impress.
