Manchester United and Arsenal played out a 1-1 draw on Sunday, with Ander Herrera opening the scoring for the hosts and Tyler Blackett putting through his own net to give the Gunners a share of the spoils.

But how did the rival clubs’ play-makers get on in the form of Mesut Ozil and Juan Mata?

Mata has featured 34 times for United this season, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists, while Ozil has played 29 times for Arsenal, netting five goals and setting up an additional nine.

Neither player managed to score or assist on Sunday, but they both played their part in an entertaining game.

Mesut Özil 77% 3 0 23 10 6 7 62 90

The United player had the better passing accuracy – 86 per cent compared with Ozil’s 77 per cent – while both players played an impressive three key passes apiece.

Mata had the only goal-scoring effort of the two, with his one shot finding the target but not the net, while the Arsenal star lost possession 23 times – almost twice as much as Mata on the day.

That said, Ozil went on more dribbles than his United counterpart and he also won considerably more duels.

The draw means Arsenal are almost certain to finish third in the table but with United also qualifying for the Champions League, in essence it is a job well done for both teams.
