Celtic's Leigh Griffiths discusses his huge upturn in form

One of Celtic's players has discussed his up and down season at the club.

Celtic forward Leigh Griffiths has given an honest assessment of his season to date in an interview with the Daily Record.

The 24-year-old has been in blistering form in recent weeks, scoring eight goals in his last five league appearances and taking his tally for the season to 19. But Griffiths has not always had things his own way and he only netted one Scottish Premiership goal in the first four months of the campaign.

Speaking of Deila, the Celtic player explained, “He said that my chance would come and since the turn of the year it has been magic and I’ve helped the club win another title.”

“The season looked to be on a downward spiral for me at first but I’ve turned it around.”

He certainly has and he now looks to be an integral part of this Celtic side for the foreseeable future.

He will not be able to score all the goals on his own, and should John Guidetti head back to Manchester City as expected it would be no surprise if Deila signed at least one new front-man this summer.

The jury is out on whether or not Griffiths can perform at the highest level – namely the Champions League – but you can be sure he cannot wait to prove the remaining doubters wrong in that regard if at all possible.

From a player seemingly heading in only one direction, Celtic have now found another star performer.
