Report: Crystal Palace interested in signing Newcastle United’s Tim Krul

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul is reportedly on the radar of Premier League rivals Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew wants to sign Tim Krul from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that the London outfit are “ready to launch” a bid of £10 million for the Netherlands international goalkeeper.

Pardew has reportedly been told by his Palace bosses that he will be given funds to spend in the summer, and the Englishman has included Krul among his targets.

The Sun also claims that the goalkeeper earns around £28,000 a week at the Magpies, giving Palace “a chance of making the largest offer to Newcastle and of coming up with a contract that matches Krul’s ambitions and encourages him to switch Tyneside for South London”.

Krul is one of the better goalkeepers in the Premier League and is perhaps also quite underrated.

The 27-year-old has played for Newcastle his entire career, and it will be interesting to see what he does if indeed Pardew comes knocking on his door at the end of the season.

If Krul does move to Palace, then it will be interesting to see what Julian Speroni does. The Argentine is currently the first-choice goalkeeper at Selhurst Park and has been at the club since 2004.

Speroni is 35 years of age, and perhaps Pardew believes that it is time to sign a younger and better goalkeeper.
