The statistics of Alexis Sanchez don't lie this season in the Premier League, with the Chile international leading the player rankings at Arsenal thanks to consistently high-quality performances.
Recognising the progress of the 26-year-old and his impact with the Gunners since his blockbuster £35 million move (per the BBC) from Barcelona last summer, one former manager believes Alexis has what it takes to position himself among the best players in the world.
Speaking with Portuguese sports outlet A Bola, former Udinese manager Pasquale Marino is of the firm view: "Alexis Sanchez is in his best form right now. Personally, I believe he could score 35 goals this season, or in any league in Europe."
Alexis is currently on 19 goals in all competitions for Arsenal this season, but Marino insisted with conviction: "If he's capable of of reaching 35 goals, I think he can go on to reach the same level as the two monsters of modern football: Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo."
High praise indeed from the Italian manager, currently working at Vicenza, but Pasquale wasn't finished there with his thoughts on the quality of Alexis at Arsenal, adding: "Right now, only those two, Messi and Ronaldo, and possibly Ibrahimovic, could perhaps be considered better than he is."
Having operated out wide on the left or right, or playing through the middle with Arsenal this season, according to data from whoscored.com, Alexis Sanchez is only just surpassed by Chelsea star Eden Hazard when it comes to Premier League player ratings. For the top five European leagues, the Chilean maestro currently ranks eighth.
