Pochettino delays Kane decision that could impact striker’s summer

The Tottenham forward may be a busy man between the end of this season and the start of the next.

Spurs striker Harry Kane is much in demand this summer, with exhibition friendlies with his club after the season finishes potentially impacting preparation for England Under 21s European Championships in Czech Republic, not to mention any possible desire to have the hotshot in Roy Hodgson's full England side for summer fixtures.

But though there will have to be some decisions made with regards to what games Kane features in, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is quoted on Sky Sports as revealing in Friday's press conference that he is in no rush to make his mind up, despite the club set playing in Asia and Australia just days after the league campaign has finished.

"I think that we have eight games and we have time to speak about a lot of things," said Pochettino. "But why wouldn't he play, If I decide he's in the squad to travel to Sydney, it's our decision.

"I think we have time to speak on the future about Sydney and about the European competition. I told you in the past in a different press conference that we want to help the national team.

"We have a very good relationship and we are going to share the decision between the player, the FA and us.

"There are a lot of things to discuss with the FA, [England U21 manager] Gareth Southgate and with us but we always try to find the best for the player, the national team and for Tottenham."

If Kane does turn out in Tottenham's postseason games, he will have to fly 10,000 miles to the other side of the world for matches against a Malaysia FC side on May 27, and then Sydney FC on May 30.

Tottenham's last game of the season is against Everton on May 24, and if selected for the England Under-21 side, the striker will have to head to the other side of the world just three days later, and then come back to join up with Gareth Southgate's squad in preparation for England's opening game of Euro 2015 on June 18.

England's senior side has a friendly against Republic of Ireland on June 7th, and it seems at the moment that Kane is unlikely to feature at that level.
