Former Blackburn Rovers striker believes Leeds are perfect preparation for FA Cup clash

Blackburn take on Liverpool in an FA Cup replay next week.

Blackburn Rovers face two English giants in the coming weeks, although they meet in completely different circumstances.

They will take on Liverpool at Ewood Park in an FA Cup replay on Wednesday, but before that they must navigate past Leeds United in the Championship.

One former Blackburn player has now warned the team not to take the Leeds game lightly, as playing at Elland Road is always a challenge.

Kevin Gallacher wrote in his column for the Lancashire Telegraph, which you can read by clicking here, that the game is perfect preparation:

"Leeds away on Saturday is still a big game.

"Trips to Elland Road should always be looked forward to. While the ground does not get as full as it used to, it can still generate an unbelievable atmosphere.

"And that’s what the Rovers players should also expect to encounter when they walk out at Ewood Park next Wednesday for the FA Cup replay with Liverpool."

Gallacher then clearly believes that the atmosphere at Leeds can get the Blackburn players ready for the cauldron that will await them in the FA Cup tie.

The fact is, he has a point. Leeds have averaged a better attendance than the likes of AC Milan this season, quite an astonishing feat for a side who have not played in the top flight for some time now.

But the club is still massive and has a very loyal fanbase. Some might even say Leeds 'belong' in the top-flight.

Blackburn fans would argue the same. They won the title in 1995 and next season both teams will likely be challenging for promotion back to the promised land.

Before that, they will have to make do with this Saturday's fixture.
