Manchester United media round-up: Setback for van Gaal over summer deal for Bale

A round up of news stories this morning related to Manchester United.

The Daily Mail has reported that Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale won’t be leaving the Spanish club this summer.

United have been strongly linked with making a move for the Welshman who is thought to be unhappy at the Spanish giants.

He’s previously turned down the chance to join United when he linked up with the Spanish side in an £86 million deal.

The Metro has reported that Manchester United have apparently agreed terms to sign Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia.

The paper’s report claims that the club has had scouts watching his performances closely over the last 12 months.

The report also states that a fee is yet to be agreed, with a price of £36.9 million likely to be required to push the deal through.

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has been quoted by the Daily Express suggesting that Wayne Rooney is still England’s main man.

Rooney hasn’t been showing the best form in recent weeks, but Hart has insisted he is vital for his country.

He is set to start for England against Lithuania alongside Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane.

“He’s our captain, he’s our leader and he’s soon to be the leading goalscorer for his country,” said Hart.
