Jamie Carragher has taken to social networking site Twitter to praise the performance of Manchester United against Liverpool earlier today.

The Red Devils got the better of Liverpool 2-1 away from home in what proved to be a hugely entertaining Premier League game.

United took the lead through Juan Mata in the 14th minute and gained a numerical advantage when Steven Gerrard was sent off in the opening minute of the second half.

Spain international Mata doubled the Manchester outfit’s advantage just before the hour mark, although Daniel Sturridge’s goal in the 69th minute did threaten to make things tough for the visitors.

The Red Devils had 58% of the possession, six shots, of which four were on target, and three corners.

Van Gaal’s side completed 61% of their passes in the opposition half and had a pass accuracy of 82%.

In contrast, Liverpool had the ball just 42% of the time, took seven shots, of which only one was on target, and two corners.

The Merseyside outfit ended the game with a pass accuracy of 75% and completed only 49% of their passes in United’s half.
