Seko Fofana has played 17 games for Fulham this season.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder signed on a season-long loan with the Cottagers in November, and has since played a key role for Fulham, although Kit Symons has told GetWestLondon that he needs to improve in a key area.

17 league and four FA Cup appearances have been totalled, and the French youth international has shown an incredible talent, as well as a lack of experience associated with his young age.

He will return to City at the end of the season, but, with the host of stars ahead of him, it is expected that the youngster will spend the next few years out on loan as well.

Known as an attacking midfielder, for much of this season Fofana has been played in a deeper role than usual. Rather than utilising his attacking talents, the youngster has used his physicality to great effect, and has played in a box-to-box role in Kit Symons’ team.

This role still allows him to play to some of his attacking strengths, and he has registered 1.3 shots per game, and completed 0.5 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game. The big disappointment for the midfielder so far this campaign is that he has been unable to score for the Cottagers yet, and Symons believes that this is the main area that Fofana needs to improve in.

Speaking to GetWestLondon, the former academy coach said: “He’s done well since he’s been here. What he’s done is got himself in brilliant situations as a fantastic athlete. But the next step is to make one of these chances count as a goal.”

With first-team chances unlikely at the Etihad next season, Fofana could find himself with Fulham again, and maybe Symons can be the man to improve the Frenchman’s goalscoring record – which is currently too poor to work his way into the City set-up.
