Stephy Mavididi scores twice in 5-3 victory for Arsenal's under-18s

A young Arsenal striker added two more goals to his tally on Wednesday.

Arsenal’s under-18 side won an exciting match 5-3 against their Leicester City counterparts on Wednesday afternoon.

The young Gunners side went behind but equalised through Stephy Mavididi with 20 minutes on the clock.

Stefan O’Connor, who has experienced first-team action for Arsenal this season, put his side ahead 10 minutes before the break and further goals from Aaron Eyoma, Gedion Zelalem and a second from Mavididi sealed the win despite the Foxes narrowing the gap in the final minutes.

Mavididi is a 16-year-old centre forward who is highly-rated at the Emirates Stadium.

The teenager has made three appearances for Arsenal’s under-21 side and he has two goals in seven UEFA Youth League appearances.

Those goals came in the group-stage against Borussia Dortmund and Galatasaray earlier this season although he was unable to make it three goals in three consecutive matches as his side lost in the knock-out stage to Atletico Madrid.

Mavididi is one of a number of exciting young goal-scorers at Arsenal right now and it will be interesting to see how his career develops in the years to come.
