Report: McClaren set to make six changes for Derby this evening

Steve McClaren is set to bring up to six players back into his starting line up for the game against Rotherham.

The Derby Telegraph has reported that up to six players could return for Steve McClaren ahead of tonight’s game for Derby at Rotherham.

The boss made several changes to his team for the FA Cup defeat at the hands of Reading last weekend, but he’s expected to go with his strongest possible side as the Rams look to get back on track in the Championship title race.

The six players mentioned by the newspaper who are expected to return are Lee Grant, Jake Buxton, Craig Forsyth, Will Hughes, Tom Ince and Jamie Ward.

Derby will be the favourites going into the game because of their superior league position, with Rotherham currently three points above the relegation places in the able.

The obvious risk or danger for McClaren in bringing so many players back into the starting line-up is that it creates the chance the team could be unsettled.

However, there will be some fresh legs in the side after the weekend and the boss has used a similar group of players throughout the season in the Championship.

A win for the Rams should put them into the outright lead at least until Middlesbrough play tomorrow.
