Nintendo's TVii service not coming to Europe anymore

Wii U Black

European Wii U owners won't get to have the TV program service.

Nintendo's TVii service's European launch has been scrapped, as announced by the company today.

TVii has been available in Japan and North America since the launch of the Wii U back in 2012. The service lets users search through TV programs and watch them on their GamePad.

Nintendo said that because localising multiple TV services across the different countries is "extremely complex", they have decided not to proceed with the launch of TVii in Europe.

There is some light at the end of the tunnel however, my fellow Europeans; Nintendo has launched the Nintendo Anime Channel, which is a new video-on-demand service on 3DS. Users can stream anime shows like Pokémon, Kirby, and Inazuma Eleven, with new content being added regularly. Check out the free app on the Nintendo eShop.
