Can Tim Sherwood turn Christian Benteke around, like he did Emmanuel Adebayor?

Sherwood got the best out of Adebayor whilst manager of Tottenham Hotspur last season.

New Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood was semi-involved today as his new team progressed in the FA Cup by beating Leicester City.

Goals from Leandro Bacuna and Scott Sinclair proved enough for victory despite a late strike from Andrej Kramaric for The Foxes.

Sherwood watched the game from the stands although was in the dressing room and will be pleased that his new Villa side have got of to a winning start.

One of the key conundrums he faces at the club is how to get the best out of striker Christian Benteke.

The Belgian started his Aston Villa career in style, scoring 23 goals in 39 games and despite dropping off slightly last term, with 11 in 28.

This season has seen just three in 19 as his form has dropped off dramatically.

But if anyone can get the best out of the sometimes sullen giant it is surely Sherwood, he did it with Emmanuel Adebayor.

When Sherwood took over from Andre Villas-Boas at Tottenham the Togo striker was out of contention. He had fallen out with the Portuguese manager and was seemingly on his last legs at Spurs. However, under Sherwood he rediscovered his best form.

He scored eight goals in the final few weeks of the season last term under the management of Sherwood, who seemed to get him fired up again.

Coincidentally the last time Adebayor scored a goal under the management of Tim Sherwood was in the 3-0 win against, Aston Villa back in May.

Villa fans will be hoping he can have a similar impact on the form of their struggling front-line striker.
