Paul Scholes' big claim about Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino

The ex-midfielder is a huge fan of the Tottenham Hotspur coach.

Paul Scholes is a huge fan of Mauricio Pochettino.

And, according to his latest column in the Independent and London Evening Standard, the former Manchester United midfielder believes the Tottenham boss is the best young coach around.

The Argentine made a name for himself on these shores after taking over at Southampton and was rewarded this summer with the offer of coming to Spurs.

Pochettino duly did so and has now impressed since taking over at White Hart Lane. The Tottenham boss has already reached his first final in north London - in the Capital One Cup - and has his team in fine form in the race for the Champions League places.

Spurs, too, have the Europa League, in which they play Fiorentina in the last 32.

All of the evidence, meanwhile, has led Scholes to suggest Pochettino is the best young coach in the business - ahead of the likes of Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers:

"His team might have lost to Liverpool on Tuesday night but the more I see of Mauricio Pochettino, the more I think he is the best young coach around.

"What I like about Pochettino is the way that he looks in control. He is in control of his players, in control of the way that they play. He is confident without being arrogant and his team is playing with a great energy."

Tottenham are not in action this weekend, having been knocked out of the FA Cup by Leicester City, meaning Pochettino has the chance - should he so desire - to spend precious extra time with his squad in training.
