Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard’s shirt number at LA Galaxy revealed

The influential midfielder will continue to wear the number eight shirt when he moves Stateside.

Steven Gerrard is set to play his final Merseyside derby against Everton tomorrow, before moving to LA Galaxy next season for a new challenge.

The Reds skipper is out of contract in the summer and has penned a deal to take him Stateside to the MLS franchise.

Galaxy have revealed that the influential midfielder is set to wear the number eight shirt, as reported on the club's official website, with pre-orders of the strip with the Englishman’s name on it already available.

It will be an emotional day for the 34-year-old at Goodison Park tomorrow, who will play his 33rd clash against the Toffees over a 17-year period in the Merseyside outfit’s first team.

Gerrard has registered ten goals in that time and will be hoping to record victory to round off a career of fixtures against Everton and boost Liverpool’s top four chances.

Brendan Rodgers’ men are expected to be busy in the transfer market trying to replace Gerrard this summer, and seeing the Englishman in another club’s colours will be a real shock for Reds fans when he moves to America.
