Evercore Partners, the merger-advisory firm founded by Roger Altman, said it will invest in Luminis Partners to expand operations in Australia and New Zealand.

Bloomberg News reports that Evercore can acquire a 20 percent stake in Sydney-based Luminis in 2017, according to a statement Monday that didn’t disclose terms.

Luminis will be the 'exclusive affiliate of Evercore' in the area, the companies said.

Luminis was founded by former Greenhill & Co. bankers Ron Malek, Simon Mordant and Jamie Garis to advise government bodies, companies, private-equity firms and institutions on strategy, restructurings and mergers and acquisitions. The bankers previously set up Australia’s Caliburn Partnership Pty, which was sold to Greenhill in 2010.
