According to a report from the Guardian on Monday evening Liverpool play-maker Philippe Coutinho has agreed a new contract at Anfield until 2020.
The news was no doubt greeted with joy by the Reds faithful, who have seen the 22-year-old continue to blossom this season and become an integral member of Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The Brazilian has already made 31 appearances for Liverpool this season, scoring two goals and providing five assists. In recent games he has really come into his own, setting up four goals in his last five matches, but Jamie Carragher has asked for improvement in another area.
The former Liverpool defender took to Twitter shortly after the Guardian’s report to write his own response to the story.
“Great news about the Coutinho deal,” he wrote, “He’s in form, plenty of assists of late…more goals please!”
Coutinho has only found the net 10 times in 81 appearances for Rodgers’ side and if he is going to become the great player he is capable of being, he must now get his name on the score-sheet on a more regular basis.
Great news about the Coutinho deal he's in form, plenty of assists of late which we will show on SNF before the Efc game. More goals please!— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) February 2, 2015
