Liverpool youngster Rafa Paez has joined Eibar on a six-month loan deal, the Spanish club’s official website has confirmed.
The central defender joined the Reds from the Real Madrid youth academy in the summer of 2013 after a successful initial trial period.
Last season, he regularly played for Liverpool's under-21 side, making 15 appearances and impressing the club’s youth team coaches alongside fellow defender Lloyd Jones.
This season, Brendan Rodgers has decided that Paez is ready for first-team experience elsewhere and he was soon out on loan with Italian side Bologna, appearing in eight matches for the club.
However, his loan spell at the Serie A club ended in early January and Spanish minnows Eibar have decided to pursue his services for the remainder of the season.
The La Liga outfit were keen on strengthening their defence after former first-team defender Raul Albentosa moved to Championship promotion favourites Derby County earlier this month.
The former under-19 Spanish international will be a good signing for Eibar, and the experience gained in Spain’s top flight will unquestionably aid his development as a player.
The Basque-based side are currently eighth in the La Liga table, 11 points clear of Almeria who occupy the final spot in the relegation zone.
