Villa chief executive reveals Lerner's habit during important games

Aston Villa's chief executive has dismissed the idea Randy Lerner isn't passionate about the club.

Aston Villa’s chief executive Tom Fox has told the Birmingham Mail about owner Randy Lerner’s habit during matches.

Fox has dismissed the idea that Lerner doesn’t care about the club and has revealed he’s extremely passionate whenever Villa have a game.

“I’ve been at his house watching matches together and both of us are standing up pacing around at various points of time,” said Fox.

“He’s very, very well informed as to the business side of what’s happening on the pitch.”

The Mail suggests the way Lerner has been perceived by the club’s fans has changed after he put the side up for sale, but Fox has dismissed any notion that he’s not close to what’s going on.

It should be seen as encouraging that he’s still passionate about what’s happening on the pitch as manager Paul Lambert works hard to improve the fortunes of the team.

The challenge for Villa is to consolidate at both ends and aim for climbing the Premier League table.

The worry for the club’s fans is that the team will get drawn into a relegation dogfight, as they’re currently only three points away from the bottom three.

Consistency in performances and results will allow them to climb the table and improve, while Lerner seems set to back the manager and the team for the progression of the club.
