Report: Yevhen Konoplyanka wants Everton move over Roma

While a transfer to Roma looks to be in the works, Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka would reportedly prefer a move to Everton.

Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka might be on the verge of a move to Roma but, according to France Football, it wouldn’t be his preferred destination.

Konoplyanka, 25, is out of contract at the end of the season and, with his sights set on a move elsewhere, has continued to be linked to a number of clubs this month.

Both Everton and Tottenham Hotspur have been chasing the Ukraine international’s £7 million signature, per the Daily Mail, but Roma now appear to have stolen a march on the Premier League duo.

Speaking to Dnipro’s official website on Tuesday, club director of sport Andriy Stetsenko said: “Dnipro and Roma are in talks over Konoplyanka, and clubs have almost reached an agreement. There is the possibility that he may change teams.”

However, France Football have since reported that Konoplyanka is still holding out hope of a move to England, with Everton named as his favoured destination, and has been given several days to consider his options.

It wouldn’t be the first time the talented wide man has pushed for a switch to Merseyside, having infamously come close to a £15 million switch to Liverpool last January, before Dnipro’s billionaire owner Ihor Kolomoyskyi refused to sanction the deal at the last-minute.

He revealed some lingering resentment towards his current club at the time, quoted on Goal.com as declaring: “Not at all upset! Well, I will not hide it, there is a little resentment.”

It remains to be seen what the future will hold for Konoplyanka over the coming days but, with a medical at Roma reported to be taking place at the weekend, the likes of Everton will need to move fast if they want to capture his signature ahead of the Serie A giants.
