Barcelona ace Gerard Pique names two Chelsea stars in his ideal XI

His XI consists of two Barcelona team-mates, four Real Madrid players and two Chelsea stars.

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has named Chelsea duo Thibaut Courtois and Cesc Fabregas in his ideal XI, reported by Spanish paper AS.

A number of top stars in world football have been naming their ideal XIs in recent weeks, with Juventus’s Andrea Pirlo proudly showing off his choices this week.

The latest name to complete the task is Catalan favourite Gerard Pique – and his ideal team certainly showed no bias towards the riches of talent available at the Nou Camp.

In fact, rather controversially, he chose more players from El Clasico rivals Real Madrid than Barca as he named Sergio Ramos, Toni Kroos, Gareth Bale and recent Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

Among his dream XI were just two players from the Premier League - Fabregas and Courtois - with both enjoying a fabulous campaign with Chelsea having made the move from Spain in the summer.

Pique knows all about the qualities Fabregas possesses, with the two having won multiple trophies together both at Barca and for the Spanish national team.

Courtois, however, could be considered an interesting choice given Manuel Neuer’s heroics in 2014, though the Chelsea number one is well remembered in Spain for his stint at Atletico Madrid.

The 6ft 6inch shot stopper was ultimately a nemesis for the Catalans as he helped Los Colchoneros knock Barca out of Europe and claim the La Liga title ahead of Pique’s side by holding them to a 1-1 draw at the Nou Camp on the final day of the campaign.

Opting for a 3-4-3 formation, here is Pique's complete ideal XI: Thibaut Courtois, Thiago Silva, Gerard Pique, Sergio Ramos, Arturo Vidal, Andres Iniesta, Toni Kroos, Cesc Fabregas, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale.
