Chelsea morning round-up: Mourinho downbeat over treble chances, jokes over possible transfer

Jose Mourinho has been quoted by ESPN suggesting a domestic treble is too difficult for Chelsea to achieve.

The Blues are fighting on all fronts domestically, but the boss has moved to try and play down some of the attention focused on his side.

“No. It is too difficult,” he said when asked a direct question over the club’s treble chances.

Jose Mourinho hinted he would try to sign Steven Gerrard on loan after he’d left Liverpool.

The Reds icon leaves Anfield at the end of the season, with Mourinho widely known as one of his biggest admirers.

When asked whether he’d try to convince Gerrard to stay in England, ESPN quotes him as saying he’d try to get the midfielder on loan.

Jose Mourinho has been quoted by FourFourTwo suggesting he’s happy with a draw in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

An Eden Hazard penalty saw Chelsea stay level in the tie ahead of the second game at Stamford Bridge next week.

Mourinho said a draw was a fair result and praised Liverpool’s performance.
