Tottenham are believed to be keen on Palermo defender Ezequiel Munoz, but the player’s agent has hinted that another side hold the player’s heart.

Argentine defender Ezequiel Munoz could be ready to leave Serie B side Palermo and there may be a tug of war for his signature.

There is some debate over whether Tottenham need another centre-back, but there have been insistent press reports that they are eyeing Munoz.

If Spurs are interested then they may be disappointed to hear the player’s agent flirting with another club: Napoli.

“Napoli are a team that my client would like to play for,” representative Fernando Ortiz said on Radio Crc.

“For one thing us Argentinians love Napoli, the club that Diego Maradona, the greatest of all, played for.

“Munoz’s contract will expire in June. There have been offers, but Napoli are not amongst them. We are talking to Palermo about a contract renewal, but the idea is to be sold in January so that the club can get something for him.”

There are two questions: whether Tottenham are genuinely interested in Munoz and secondly whether Napoli may swoop in to sign him.

Rafa Benitez’s club have been linked to Munoz, but his agent has made it clear that there has been no direct contact so far.

At present it seems that the chances of Munoz signing for Spurs don’t seem great one way or the other.
