Martin Keown: Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic 'aren't quite up to it'

The former defender feels Manchester City need Swansea City's Wilfried Bony.

Martin Keown feels Manchester City are making the right move in signing Swansea striker Wilfried Bony - because Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic 'aren't quite up to it.'

Manchester City are expected to complete the signing of the Swansea forward this January and Keown feels they do need an extra forward.

Indeed, according to the former defender, the Swansea man is the perfect partner for Sergio Aguero - and could force an upturn in from from Dzeko and Jovetic.

"Manchester City needed an extra striker because Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic still aren’t quite up to it. Maybe some extra competition will fire them up," Keown said during a 'Tackle Keown' session on the Daily Mail website.

"Sergio Aguero has been absolutely outstanding so far but he could do with some more support. I think the two could play together and between the two of them they could decide when to drop off or not.

"They are clever enough to work together and know when to add an extra midfielder. But Manuel Pellegrini likes to play two up front so I could see that happening with Bony and Aguero."
