Christian Benteke’s agent rules out move away from Aston Villa

Benteke has often been linked with a move away from Villa Park, but appears to be staying put.

Aston Villa forward Christian Benteke will not be leaving the club during this transfer window according to his agent.

Every time a transfer window comes around there are reports linking the Belgian striker with a move away from Villa Park but not this time, which will no doubt delight Villa fans.

His agent Kismet Eris spoke to the club’s chief executive, and is quoted in the Birmingham Mail, saying: “I came to Birmingham recently to chat with Christian and I met also with Tom Fox, and with this I can say that there’s nothing going to be happening with Christian in January.

“He will be staying at Villa.

“As far as I know from those discussions, Villa feel the same way. He will be staying.”

Benteke had previously handed in a transfer request at the club but ended up committing himself to a new deal in 2013, and returned from a serious knee injury earlier on in the season. After returning to the side this season he has managed to score three goals from 12 appearances.

Villa are the lowest scoring side in the Premier League this season, and to know that their most prolific forward will still be at the club between now and the end of the season is a boost.

They currently sit in 12th place five points above the relegation zone, so their Premier League status is by no means secure with 18 games of the season remaining, but no side relishes going up against the 24-year-old, and could be the catalyst to consolidating their place in the top flight for another season.
