German international Lukas Podolski didn't have to wait long to get his first taste of Serie A action and he could hardly have chosen a bigger game to get involved in.
Podolski was introduced by coach Roberto Mancini after 54 minutes having only completed his switch from Arsenal 24 hours earlier.
He entered the fray wearing the No 11 shirt that was once donned by ex-Gunner Nwankwo Kanu.
It was a lively performance from a man who had become frustrated at being peripheral at the Emirates Stadium and there were clear signs that he could do well in Italy.
He came close to an assist when he rolled the ball back to Mauro Icardi on the six-yard box, but his attempt went wide.
Inter managed to draw 1-1 thanks to an Icardi goal and will take many positives from the evening, including Podolski's efforts.
