Alan Pardew has admitted that it was not easy to leave Newcastle United for Crystal Palace, but insists that it was his own decision.
The 53-year-old was officially confirmed as the Palace boss this morning, having been given permission to speak to the Eagles late last month.
Pardew, a former Palace player, was in charge of Newcastle for four years and concedes that it was “difficult” for him to make the decision.
“It was difficult because I am leaving a big club in Newcastle and of course it was a choice I decided to make,” the Englishman told Palace’s official website. “That was there for me. I felt it was right for myself, my family and my career.”
Palace are currently third from bottom in the Premier League table with 17 points from 20 matches, while Newcastle are 10th with 27 points.
