A young Arsenal defender has been praised by his former school's director of sport.
Back in November, Arsenal player George Dobson signed professional terms with the club and now a man who knows him very well has been speaking about the young defender.
Dobson has already made his debut for Arsenal’s under-21s and his versatility – he can also play in midfield – suggests he could have a bright future in North London.
He is a former pupil of Brentwood School, whose director of sport Ian Wignall, has been quoted praising Dobson in a recent interview with the Brentwood Gazette.
“He was absolutely destined for stardom,” Wignall said. “He was a super boy, worked really hard.
“He was motivated, he wanted to be succesful and without any doubt, that drive to succeed got him to where he is today.”
At just 17, Dobson has a long way to go before he can experience first-team action for Arsenal. But manager Arsene Wenger has shown he is prepared to give young players a chance if they are good enough, and if Wignall is right, the Gunners could have another young star on their hands.
