Report: Inter overtake Milan in Nastasic race

Serbian centre-back Matija Nastasic looks increasingly likely to leave Manchester City and the battle for his signature is said to be a Milan derby.

Manchester City seem to have told Matija Nastasic that he is surplus to requirements, but he has no shortage of admirers in Italy's fashion capital.

The 21-year-old is regarded as a great defensive talent in the making, but he has struggled to assert himself at Man City where there are an abundance of options.

The Daily Mail reports that German side Schalke and AC Milan are leading the race to snap up Nastasic, but reports in Italy suggest that Inter Milan are also looming.

Italian clubs are well aware of what Nastasic is capable of having seen him excel during the 2011-12 campaign with Fiorentina before he signed for City.

The Serbian is said to be valued at around £10 million - a fee that puts him out of the range of both Milan and Inter, but a loan deal is still possible.

It is being suggested in Italy that while Milan made the first tentative approach to Man City, Inter have overtaken them in the race to sign him.

Whichever way, it appears that Nastasic's days in Manchester may be numbered.
