Report: Ancelotti feels signing Lucas Silva could be 'counterproductive' for Real

Arsenal could have fresh hope over signing Lucas Silva ahead of Real Madrid.

Marca has suggested that Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is reconsidering his plans to sign Lucas Silva from Cruzeiro.

The €15 million rated midfielder looked a dead cert to link up with Los Blancos next month, but the Italian is thought to be having a second thought over the situation, which could play into Arsenal’s hands.

“Florentino Pérez was still keen to complete the move, but he's given the final decision to Ancelotti, who understands that bringing him in when he wouldn't get much game time as a result of Modric returning early could end up being counterproductive,” reports Marca.

Real Madrid have one of the strongest midfields in Europe, which is something any new player has to consider ahead of a possible move to the Bernabeu.

The strength in the middle of the team is remarkable considering the club let Xabi Alonso, a world class middle man, link up with Bayern Munich.

Arsenal could cash in because they need a fresh player in front of their own defence and someone who can also play a creative role in terms of starting attacks.

Recent reports have suggested that Arsenal are willing to pay Cruzeiro’s demanded fee and Silva fits the bill for Arsene Wenger in several ways; he’s young, lower profile and represents someone he can work with and develop.

It’s effectively now over to Arsene Wenger and whether he wants to apply some pressure and get Arsenal into a great position by January 1.
