Manchester United star Marouane Fellaini out of Aston Villa game with illness

The Belgian midfielder has been brilliant in recent weeks.

Manchester United face Aston Villa at the weekend and will of course be expected to beat a team they so often defeat in the Premier League.

Today Van Gaal has given his regular Manchester United press conference to MUTV and given plenty of injury updates ahead of the fixture.

In the process he made it clear that Angel Di Maria might make it to the bench for the fixture after his recent time out of the first-team.

But perhaps one of the most in form players of late will also be missing.

Marouane Fellaini has struggled for form at United. In his first season he became a scapegoat, something he mentioned in a recent interview with The Times, after flopping on his £27.5 million price tag.

But under Van Gaal he has, perhaps surprisingly, become a vital player in the past couple of months.

Van Gaal says that Fellaini is ill, so will be at home while the game goes ahead.

But Van Gaal has 22 fit first-team players to choose from for Manchester United so he will not likely miss Fellaini in this fixture.
