Tuesday evening saw Chelsea advance to the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup with a 3-1 victory against Derby County at the iPro Stadium, while League One’s Sheffield United caused an upset by seeing off Premier League Southampton 1-0 at Bramall Lane.
Wednesday saw Tottenham demolish a lacklustre Newcastle side 4-0 at White Hart Lane, while Liverpool brought an end to a miserable week with a 3-1 away victory over Championship outfit Bournemouth.
Here are the top five statistics from the Capital One Cup fifth round:
3 – Following their unlikely 1-0 victory over Premier League opponents Southampton, Sheffield United are the first team from the third tier to make the League Cup semi-final since Stockport County in 1996-97.
52 – Raheem Sterling scored his first competitive goal since September 2014 in Liverpool’s 3-1 away win at Bournemouth. This goal saw 52 consecutive passes in the build-up, before Lazar Markovic’s cross was headed back across by Jordan Henderson for Sterling to open the scoring.

26 – Tottenham have scored in each of their last 26 home games in the League Cup, a run that goes back to January 1999. The Lilywhites netted four times in their fifth round victory over top flight rivals Newcastle.
3 – After scoring the opening goal against Derby, Eden Hazard has netted three goals in his last four appearances for Chelsea, as many as he had scored in his previous eight.
1 – Craig Bryson’s goal came from Derby County’s first shot on target against Chelsea.
