The Adam Johnson comments designed to infuriate Newcastle fans

The Sunderland winger hasn't held back ahead of Sunday's Tyne-Wear derby!

It's fair to say Sunderland have had the better of the Premier League's most recent Tyne-Wear derbies.

And it appears that has given Adam Johnson all the stick he needs to beat Newcastle United with.

Indeed, ahead of this Sunday's derby, when the Black Cats travel to Newcastle, Johnson has stoked the fire - claiming 'the best part' of beating the Magpies is doing so 'in front of their fans.'

"It’s better when you win away," the Sunderland winger is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

"Afterwards, you realise you’ve done it, the music is turned up and you’ve won the game. You get on the bus and you can see everybody there is fuming. That’s the best part. It just makes it a better feeling winning in front of their fans.

"You can feel that little bit more expectancy. There’s a pressure going into the game. When you get onto the pitch, if you didn’t know it was a derby, you can tell straight away.

"There is a completely different feeling. There is a tension. It is like a cup final. Everything is just that little bit extra and you get that from the fans. They make it that way."

Newcastle host Sunderland at St James' Park at 1.30pm British Time on Sunday afternoon.
