United morning news: Nani blow confirmed; teenage target set for Arsenal

Manchester United loanee Nani is definitely out of Sporting Lisbon’s Champions League encounter with Chelsea this week.

The player suffered a thigh injury on Friday and reports over the weekend suggested he would have further tests to see if he could feature in a vital match for the Portuguese side; and now A Bola reports that the player has not made it.

The United man has been in great form since arriving back in his homeland this summer but Sporting will have to do without him against Jose Mourinho’s side.

In other news, United look set to miss out on Exeter City teenager Ethan Ampadu.

The Daily Star reports that Arsenal are closing in on the player’s signature, with his father currently a coach at the Gunners’ Hale End academy.

Ampadu is a Welsh under-16 international who is said to be attracting interest from a number of different sides.
