There was much to admire about Wilfried Zaha's performance for Crystal Palace against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
The on-loan Manchester United winger has had to be patient since his temporary return to Selhurst Park but he has started the Eagles' last two matches and it appears his confidence is growing as a result.
Against Spurs the 22-year-old put in a fine demonstration of wing play, going on 11 electrifying dribbles to cause concern among the hosts' back-line time and again. But running was never the United player's problem; the issue is with the end product.
It is all well and good celebrating a player's tricks and his pace but Zaha failed to play a single key pass on Saturday and his passing accuracy of 63 per cent did not suggest he is ready for a starting berth at Old Trafford.

The winger also failed to hit the target with either of his goal-scoring attempts, so for all the plaudits generated by his tricks and flicks, it should be noted that at 22 he should be further along in his on-field development.
United will be paying very close attention to his progress this season, and until he turns his skills into goals and assists, or even shots on target, Louis van Gaal is unlikely to be convinced.
