Manchester City morning news: Pellegrini's message for Chelsea, vows to keep star

A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester City.

Former Liverpool and England midfielder Jamie Carragher says Manchester City have to keep hold of Frank Lampard.

Lampard is currently on a short term loan deal from City’s sister club New York City.

“How many times has he done this? He has moved to City now, but as he is shooting you know it is a goal. It is just Frank Lampard – City have to keep him,” Carragher told Sky Sports News.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has vowed his side will keep fighting to retain their Premier League title.

City clawed two points back on Chelsea over the weekend as they won 3-0 away at Southampton.

“I repeat exactly the same words as last week against Swansea. We have to play 25 more games. It's a lot of points. No one knows what happens in the future. In one week, you can change things,” said the Chilean.

Pellegrini has also insisted that key striker Sergio Aguero will not be going anywhere.

There has been speculation of interest from German champions Bayern Munich and European champions Real Madrid.

“At this moment Sergio doesn’t want to go and we don’t want to sell him - Sergio is very happy here and has five or six more years on his contract. I don’t think he will move but you never know in the future,” said the boss.
